I ordered mine and received them (nicely packaged) ready to use when I got them. Just set the volume screw with the small screwdriver provided, to your levels needed, plug in the charging base and your good to go.
The moment I put them in, I could hear S sounds again. My wife said "sister" and I actually heard the S at the beginning. For three years I've been hearing "i-ter" and just guessing.
I used them all day with no problems and even rode my Harley. They filter out the engine roar but I can still hear my buddy talking next to me. Charged them overnight and they were ready the next morning, it's too easy.

Baz Bryer I have had three weeks with no problems. I can actually understand conversations now, not just hear noise. Most of all I can hear at church sitting in the back. Before, everyone sounded like they were mumbling and I'd have to ask people to repeat themselves constantly.
Now I realize it wasn't my hearing that was the problem. It was those missing consonant sounds. I don't have to have people repeat things anymore because I'm actually hearing the full words.
